West Virginia native Patrick J. Bayly is a figurative painter, entering his second- year as an MFA student in Painting at The School of the Arts, Columbia University. In 2018, he graduated with his BFA in Painting from West Virginia University and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Bayly is working with poet and environmentalist Jai Hamid Bashir on a project exploring ekphrastic painting and poetry: words lifted from paintings, and paintings lifted from words. The project will culminate in large-scale paintings and a performance exploring ideas generated in the collaboration between artists, forms, cooking, and the place in which they are.
Ilana Harris-Babou is a sculptor, video and installation artist. She received her MFA in New Genres from Columbia University in 2016 and her BA in Art from Yale University in 2013. She is an exhibiting artist at the 2019 Whitney Biennial, and has had solo exhibitions at 80WSE Galleries, New York, NY; Larrie, New York, NY; The Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY; Reynolds Gallery, Richmond, VA; Broad Street Gallery, Hartford, CT; and Vox Populi Gallery, Philadelphia, PA. Harris-Babou’s work has been reviewed in The New Yorker, Art in America, and Artforum, among other publications
This summer, Ilana has been working on a new series of collages and sculptures exploring wellness culture and real estate marketing in the Hamptons.
Virginia Lee Montgomery is a filmmaker, sculptor, and facilitator. She received her BFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008 and her MFA from Yale University in Sculpture in 2016. Working across video, performance, sound, and sculpture, her artwork is a material research practice of philosophical metaphysics. Its content is surreal, latently autobiographical, and often with a feminist impulse. Recent exhibitions include: "Screens Series: Virginia Lee Montgomery," New Museum, NY (2019); "THE PONY HOTEL," Museum Folkwang, Germany (2019); “HONEY MOON,” Midnight Moment, Times Square Arts, NY (2019); “PONY COCOON,” False Flag, NY (2019); “The 2018–2019 Socrates Annual,” Socrates Sculpture Park, NY; The Annual Ann Arbor Film Festival, MI (2019), “CRASH TEST: The Molecular Turn,” La Panacée-MoCo, Montpellier, France (2018)
VLM is working on psychic research via material relations. At CRUSH Amagansett, she has been writing stream-of-conciousness poetry with sand and stones by day and honing her practice of astral projection by night. In her dreams, she has been staging a performance series of ponytail metaphysics open to other collaborative lucid dreamers.
